What kind of vehicles do they have in Vilcabamba, Ecuador

The most ancient form of transportation here is the donkey. Many people in Vilcabamba do not own a car or truck. They use donkeys for all kind of jobs. Sugar cane is frequently carried by donkeys.

This is another thing you do when you do not own a vehicle.
In Vilcabamba, all kinds of vehicles coexist, from the most ancient to the most modern.

Check out this old Peugeot car newly remodeled into a truck. Nice work inside and out.

We see some "Prius" and other hybrid vehicles, even hybrid F150s.
Ths kind of thing would not surprise anybody here.

These people are visiting from Argentina, When we sent by, they were preparing diner on the sidewalk.

This vehicle is from Switzerland.
This old modified Mercedes vehicle is from the Netherlands. It is also a family with two young kids. It looks like vehicles from Europe get shipped accross the Atlantic on a container ship.

This RV is coming all the way from Montana!
This vehicle is loaned to a German family with four young kids that live far out of town in a simple dwelling with no water...

Lots of cars are old models here.

There are a bunch of old Datsun trucks
Amazing! A good old French Renault 4L.

Some people cannot access their property without a 4 wheel drive.

This is Louis riding his bike by a line of taxis. There are at least 3 lines of taxis like this in Vilcabamba. Locals use them frequently for commuting to and from their house.

This is a Toyota Stout. Peter has never seen this model before.

"Renault" cars are common here.

On the week-ends. we see nicer cars owned by people from Loja who come out to enjoy Vilcabamba

They have a cute tiny minivan from "Chevrolet" here that we never saw in the U.S.
