Border run _ the road from Teotihucan, Mexico, to McAllen, Texas

Tamiahua is a small fishing town on the gulf of Mexico, just North of Veracruz. It feels just like Mexico 35 years ago; nice and as laid back as it gets. We are excited to have found this feeling again. We thought it had gone from Mexico...

This procession was going from one house to the next.

Louis, are you sure your GPS is working? On our way toTampico. This is a normal road in Mexico.

Our cat loves riding in the car all day

Nice lunch break.

 The city of Tampico

You go from nice highways to dirt roads in an instant.

It's OK to pass on solid lines.

This is the great town of Soto La Marina.
All this just for us? Apparently the hotel owner called the police when we checked in, for protection. Some cops occupied the room next to us and they parked their cars next to ours inside the gate. The restaurant owner said that up to 2 months ago this town was a dangerous place to be, with shootings and lots of crime. The government sent the army and the federales to change things. It looks like we were the only customers in this hotel. This is the parking lot of the hotel early morning. We are well protected!
We had already stopped at another hotel before this one and it was fully occupied by the army. Not the same feel as in Tamiahua!

2 lane roads are used as 3 or even 4 lane highways, this is normal. Shoulders serve as extra lanes. Everybody agrees and you never get stuck behind a vehicle this way.

There is a 2 hour wait at the border.

The Swiss watches Romain Jérôme are very special: their brim is made from metal from the Titanic wreck. They are becoming rare because the metal is in short supply now.
A watch like this costs $30,000. For half the price you can get a watch with real moon dust in it.
 Back in Mexico.

 Blood full moon.

This nice Mexican mum offered to make a hairdo for Angelina after doing hairdos on her own daughters.
