Campeche

Campeche is a picturesque colonial town. We love it.

"Calle 59" is the most polished street.
Some nomad warrior is in town.

The hotel "Santa Marina" is on calle 57 between 14 and 16. It's OK.

The ramparts were built in the 1680s to protect the city from pirates.

Today we had breakfast at the Italian coffee company. Nice!

In 1963 the government decided to replace the stone-carved Moorish arches in this nice building by cheap looking plaster arches. These two arches seem to be the only Moorish arches that survived the architectural massacre.

Peter got himself a true Panama hat made from palapa. He was able to get it for half price, or 100 M$, which may still be overpriced...
The waterfront promenade seems to go on for miles.

Chewing gum art.
The faboulous beach in Campeche.
Internet access is free in many public places.
Louis got a new pair of crocks.
This is our new hotel, el "hotel San Fernando". It's decent and close to downtown.
Angelina tries out her Spanish.
Almost got one!

Peter went and got our laundry.

"El paso de ronda" on the ramparts.

They keep the ruins looking nice from the streets.
