Goodbyes to Vilcabamba, Ecuador.

This is the last fiesta at school we will be attending... As always, it is a pleasure to attend, so much joy for everybody, except Louis maybe! We apologize for the blurry pictures, we do not know what's happening with blogspot.
Angelina and her best friends: Thalia on the left, then Aihnoa and Isabel.

and her dear choir teacher, Victor Quezada.
We will miss a lot of nice people from here. Angelina learnt a lot at choir and they also have become a second family to her.
Boys spent a lot of their time spinning tops. It is a national sport here.
 Time to rewind.
Not a single heated discussion, just true fun. Everybody agrees.
Louis has become just as good at the top as his experienced friends.
All these good friends for Louis!
Miguel and his brother Victor. Nice friends for Louis.
Louis and his other friend, Pepe.

The principal made a speech on the object of the fiesta: family day where they regroup mothers' day and fathers' day.
As usual, everything was well organized.

They served the parents some strong punch.

Again, so much joy and fun.

Peter is sitting in the middle.
Pepe and his mum, Maria.
Angelina and friends sang a song. We will post several movies in youtube.com under "christelle day" at the end of June.
Such beautiful traditional music with Victor Quezada and Ikel Mora. Can't wait to dowload those movies on youtube.
Their two sons, Pablo and Manu Quezada, are also excellent musician. So is the guitarist, Edison Eduardo Maza. We learnt that there are 6 traditional types of music in Ecuador: San Juanito, Yumbo, Pasacalle, Yarabi, Danzante and Bomba.
This little girl sang with her dad at the guitar, Solibel and Diego Jimenez. Gracias para la linda musica.
Then it was time to take our kids' friends to Shanta's for pizza. It was a successful diner.
Shanta and Lola offered Louis and Angelina custom-made tee-shirts! Thanks guys, what a thoughtful goodbye gift.
Then we hung out at the plaza with them

Maria came out for French toast the following sunday.
It was another successful meal.
Angelina's teacher scheduled some time alone for Angelina to take her final tests since we are leaving 15 days before the school ends. Louis's teacher will do the same. This way both Louis and Angelina will get their full report card for the semester. They both did excellent in school this year. Awsome school too.
There was a special celebration for Angelina's classroom. Her classmates had rehearsed songs for her and gave her some nice presents. Very touching.

There was a good feeling in this school.

Louis also got some nice presents from his classmates. We will post movies in youtube, under "christelle day" later on. The goodbyes at school were sincere and warm.
Louis is sitting against the wall, next to the mural. He is sitting next to Miguel, the math head of the class.
 This is the computer room.

 This is the directora's office.
We learned that the school has to buy a fridge, a blender and other cooking equipment to meet the government qualification standards, but they do not get any help for that. The school is currently looking for financial help in that matter.

By chance, there was a yard sale organized at the hostel Jardin Escondido. We sold almost everything we had to sell, the stuff that we do not take with us.
We went one last time to Shanta's.

Stephanie and Tom joined us for pizza. Nice visit, thank you guys.

Time to wash the bicycle before Miguel buys it.
The trio: Pepe, Louis and Miguel. Three classmates that had a lot of fun together.
Melanie, Angelina and Thalia. All these kids will stay in touch through Facebook.
Miguel and his mum hung out with us at our house until one hour before we left.

Louis and Angelina have been very happy here in Vilcabamba but they are also happy to go visit Asia and get to see their older brothers there. These kids are made of rubber and they come out with one more language in their pocket. It is hard to leave Vilcabamba but we know there is more to see in Asia and who knows, maybe we'll come back here.
You know it is time to go when they are setting up the first traffic light in Vilcabamba!
